The moisture levels are low this year (well, excepting that we got several inches over our town recently) and the trees are
diseased from the pine beetle infestation that has swept through the pine
forests in the past several years. It doesn’t take a lot to get a wildfire
going. There was a huge smoke plume filling the sky in our area today so we
drove south almost to the state line into Colorado and took these photos.
The first one is zoomed in on the origin of the smoke in the
foothills. The second is the zoomed out version of the same spot showing the
immense smoke plume. Pray for rain and for the 40 mile per hour gusts of wind
to quiet down. Prayers for the firefighters who put their lives at risk would
be in order too.

Oh my goodness!!! That's incredible! I hope they're able to get it out soon!
ReplyDeleteAs you can tell I haven't been on here in forever, hence the comments on every post ;)....but as of yesterday it was 40% contained, but has already topped the list for number of buildings lost in colorado's forest fire history. The saddest part is that most of the homes lost belong to the firefighters themselves.
